Who doesn’t love chocolate? This chocolate vodka martini is EASY, delicious and so perfect for a night in! You will love this 3 ingredient chocolate martini recipe.
So, did you watch the Superbowl yesterday!?
We had it on, as we usually do, but there was a lot more attention the food then the actual game. Not just because half of the game-watchers are under the age of 7, ha! We had cheese fries, wonton cups and salad rolls. Naughty and delicious!
Now that Superbowl 2021 is behind us, it’s now time to focus on – you got it – love day!
This 3-ingredient chocolate vodka martini recipe is going to be the BEST for your Valentine’s Day dinner. Since chances are you probably aren’t going out to eat this year, let’s try and make things real special inside our homes!
Starting with the booze.
You may have noticed by now that I’m a pretty big fan of vodka cocktails. I just find them so easy to make and you can do so many different flavor variations with them! My peach vodka cocktail is one of the best performing posts on the blog, especially during the summer time!
Today’s recipe is just a bit more decadent 🙂
What do you need to make a chocolate martini?
As promised, you only need 3 simple ingredients for this cocktail:
- vodka
- Bailey’s Irish Cream or a similar liqueur
- crème de cacao
If you remember, I used crème de cacao in my peppermint vodka cocktail during the holidays. It’s a lovely, chocolate flavored clear liqueur and it is divine. Mixed with the Bailey’s, it creates the ultimate creamy chocolate cocktail!
You only need the booze and some ice for this recipe, but if you want to make things a little extra special, you can rim the glasses with some melted chocolate and sanding sugar, like I did! I also added some shaved chocolate on top.
How do you make a chocolate vodka martini?
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, Bailey’s and crème de cacao along with some ice. Shake everything together for 15-20 seconds until it gets nice and cold. Then strain the mixed drink into 2 rimmed martini glasses.
Top it all off with some shaved chocolate and serve!
This recipe makes 2 martinis, so you can always split the recipe in half if you’re mixing drinks for 1 (no judgement) 🙂
Also, if you’re hosting a little party you can easily double – or triple – the recipe!
Can you use chocolate vodka for this recipe?
YES. If you can get your hands on it, chocolate vodka in this martini recipe is amazing! You don’t have to substitute anything else out. I intentionally didn’t use chocolate flavored vodka in this recipe, but you can definitely use it if you have it!
So, whether you’re making a fancy date night dinner this Valentine’s Day or you’re just looking for a decadent martini, this one is for you!

What? Did we have the Superbowl yesterday? I didn’t know that! (That clearly demonstrates my interest haha). Remember I was bragging about the mild winter in Nova Scotia? Please disregard. The second storm within one week – another ~ 40 cm of snow. I might not be a vodka fan, but I definitely need this cocktail today. Because of the Irish cream part, mostly. Cheers!
Haha I saw that your bragging did you in! A winter in Canada just isn’t a winter without some crazy snow storms, right!? You could just make yourself an Irish cream + chocolate liqueur drink 😉
It’s dessert and a cocktail all in one!! These sound DANGEROUS!! And I love to live dangerously hahaha.
100% dessert and cocktail together! Thanks Kelly – live on the edge! Hahah

It definitely is an all-in-one treat! Thanks Dawn!!
Super Bowl was on in my house but it was such a boring game and halftime show! It would’ve been much better with a couple of these delicious cocktails!
I agree, I was a little disappointed! Thanks Marcie – cocktails make everything a little more exciting 😉
Oh, my! I’m going to make these for my girlfriends once we can get together again in person! Truly a dreamy cocktail!!
It would be a PERFECT girlfriend cocktail! I love that idea. Hopefully we can all get together with our friends again soon! XO
Sounds like you had a great spread for the Super Bowl! Like you, I paid more attention to the food than to the game, haha.
What a fun cocktail for Valentine’s Day, Katherine! So creamy and delicious and I love that shaved chocolate rim.
