Guys! It’s Friday. Cheers!

I don’t know about you, but I could really use a drink! This week has felt so long. Oscar didn’t have school last Friday and this Monday, and it always feels like a long week when he’s off school for a while. Not that I don’t like the extra time with my little dude, but without that routine and structure of school the time doesn’t seem to go as fast.

Did you have a good Easter?! We had an Easter egg hunt with the boys and although it was an early, EARLY morning, it was a fun one. Even though Oscar was disappointed that the Easter bunny did not leave him a new transformer toy, ha! The sweets seemed to make up for that 😉

So, when you guys go out for cocktails, what do you typically order? It’s always bothered me a little that I’ve never had a signature cocktail that I love to order. Some people always gravitate to their old standby, like a sangria or rum and coke. I’ve never had a standby! I never really know what to order. BUT – since discovering the deliciousness that is a Moscow mule, I now have a standby!

What is in a Moscow mule?

If you haven’t had a Moscow mule before, you need to change that. It’s made of spicy ginger beer, lime juice, and ice. Oh, and VODKA of course! I never used to be a big vodka drinker but it’s starting to grow on me.

Etienne and I like to experiment with different cocktail flavour combinations, especially in the summer! We love mashing up fresh fruit with liquor to infuse it a little and then mixing it with soda water of some sort! So good!

This blackberry mint Moscow mule is one of our most recent combinations. The tartness of the blackberries is a great contrast against the smooth mint, and paired with some zippy ginger beer and fresh lime juice, it’s a little flavour explosion in your mouth! Fresh mint is a must for this drink!

What is the best vodka for a Moscow mule?

Russian Standard Vodka is a great vodka at a great price point. Pick some up the next time you’re at the liquor store, and give it a try!

Description

The most refreshing Moscow Mule you’ll have this summer! Tart blackberries and mint combined with smooth vodka, spicy ginger beer and fresh lime juice, all served up in a cold copper mug. Cheers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries*
  • 1 small lime (~2 tbsp lime juice)
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 4 oz Russian Standard vodka
  • 3 cups ginger beer

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the blackberries, lime juice and mint leaves and muddle together. If you don’t have a cocktail muddler, use the back of a spoon. Add the vodka and stir. Strain the mixture evenly between 2 chilled copper mugs and add the ginger beer (1.5 cups each). Top with ice and garnish with mint leaves, lime wedges and/or a few fresh blackberries. Serve immediately!

Notes

  1. You could also use frozen blackberries that have been thawed.
