A super simple vodka eggnog cocktail for the holidays! A lovely white Christmas cocktail made with eggnog, vodka and amaretto!

vodka eggnog cocktail

My last post for 2021! I only noticed the other day, when I was reading a friend’s Instagram story, that when you say 2022 it sounds like “2020, too”. I’m going to choose to not be terrified by this (haha)! Anyway, 2021 was definitely better than 2020 so I have high hopes for 2022!!

This past month has been a whirlwind, as December usually is. We went to Mexico twice (yay) and then did Christmas with both families. I can hardly believe that the end of the year is tomorrow! I’m not ready for another year!

I’ll finish off the year with this fabulous vodka eggnog cocktail! I hope you’re all a fan of eggnog (I’m sure some of you aren’t). It’s something we can only buy a few times a year, so we get our hands on a couple of cartons of it as a time!

What is a vodka eggnog cocktail?

There’s a few different variation of simple vodka cocktails with eggnog out there, with vodka and eggnog obviously being the main focus; however, the addition of one or two other liqueurs or flavors makes all the difference!

This particular creamy Christmas cocktail is made with:

  • vodka
  • eggnog
  • amaretto

The amaretto adds a nice sweetness to the drink that makes it feel special for the holidays!

How do you make this white Christmas cocktail?

The best part of this drink is how simple it is!! All you need to do is mix all 3 ingredients together with some ice, in a cocktail shaker, and then strain it into a glass. For an extra fancy drink, you should definitely rim the glass with a cinnamon sugar mixture.

Just mix together 1/4 cup white granulated sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon and then pour the mixture onto a cocktail rimmer or plate. Dip the rim of the cocktail glass in water, then into the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Add ice to the glass next, then strain the cocktail into it! Serve immediately with a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg sprinkled on top!

Can you make a pitcher of this vodka eggnog cocktail?

Absolutely, you can turn this single-serve drink into a drink for multiple people! Just take the number of servings you need and multiply the ingredients by the same amount. Mix it all together in a pitcher filled with ice and keep it in the fridge; alternatively, you can keep it outside if its cold enough 😉

PS – I took some of these photos in the snow, outside in -30 C!! I could only do a few before my fingers totally froze up.

Can you make this cocktail dairy-free?

I have actually been loving the So Delicious dairy-free eggnog made with coconut milk this year. If dairy is a concern for you, you can absolutely make this with that instead! It just won’t be quite as creamy.

I just want to thank you all for following along these past few years and I hope you all have a very happy New Year!!

  1. I don’t know why, but I love commercial eggnog. And this cocktail sounds wonderful! I guess I’ll have to buy more eggnog. One night, it was my dinner!!! Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year! I’d make this eggnog but my kids always beat me to it! Guess I’ll have to try it the next time I can get my hands on eggnog. 🙂
