1. Like my tank? I got this wicked cool top in the mail this week from my friend Ashley, owner of Britton & Gray Inc. Check her out!

2. Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. Such a fun holiday, even if you aren’t at all Mexican! For me, it’s a great excuse to eat the most delicious Mexican food and drink some tequila. Lindsay from With Salt and Pepper has posted the most amazing queso and I can’t wait to try it!

3.  The cashier at Walmart told me to try putting brown sugar in my coffee instead of white; he told me it was amazing. I did it the very next morning. Not amazing, sadly.

4.  Ticks. Uuugh so gross. Do you have ticks where you live?! When we were in Kelowna my brother-in-law had one on his pants after a short walk. I was immediately itchy and tingly all over for the rest of the day and was convinced I must have a million ticks somewhere on my body!

5.  Last week my credit card was the victim of fraud. Someone went on a shopping spree to RW&Co, Nine West, and more. At least they kept it classy? Thank you Royal Bank for reversing these charges, but STILL – it makes me feel somewhat violated!

6.  Does anyone else have an article of clothing that they just LOVE? I have a jean shirt from Levi’s that I wear alllll the time. It’s so, so thin and has ripped more than once. Last week it ripped beyond the point of repair. I feel like holding a mini funeral for it.

7.  I need to point out the kindness of strangers. Sure, there are a lot of jerks out there, but there are still people who are just genuinely good. On the weekend I was out walking my kids and was literally TRAPPED inside a giant school field – I was leaving a different way than I came in, and the entrances to the field were too skinny for my giant Chariot stroller. I was near the point of tears at the prospect of pushing my 2 hangry boys all the way back up a giant hill when a woman walking nearby clearly saw my distress. She went out of her way to help me through the gate. Seriously, so appreciative.

8.  My husband keeps eating the ingredients for my recipe testing. I have everything out on the counter, carefully measured and weighed, ready to go….enter Etienne. Seriously, stop it! (I know you’re reading this).

9.  My right ear has been plugged since last Tuesday. Le sigh. I need a cookie.

10. Cinco de Mayo cocktails. What are you drinking tomorrow? I think I’m going to make a couple of tequila sunrises for us.

Have a great weekend, friends!! Have a margarita (or two) 🙂

About Katherine

Heeey! Thank you for stopping by! I like 30-minute dinners and giant peanut butter cups made with only 3 ingredients. I LOVE food! If you do too, you're in the right place.

  1. Katherine,
Ha!! So much of this made me laugh out loud. I love that Etienne sneaks from your prepared stash…I completely know that feeling. Like, ‘oh that’s cute, you’re doing it again haha. And seriously stop doing that before I smack your hand!’…also, having a funeral for your jean shirt. I had a favorite dress from JCrew that was seriously timeless, dark navy, that somehow got bleach on it on the way to the washer. I almost cried (and may have just a little). People who help people with kids in those tipping moments of it either completely falling apart, or the clouds breaking and the sun shining in, are superheroes. I remember one day a few years ago when I had taken all 3 kids to the beach by myself, and somehow turned ourselves around in the dunes to end up in a parking lot a mile from where our car was. And everyone, myself included, was on their way to a major hungry-tired-sunned out meltdown. I called my friend and she picked us up so we didn’t have to trek all the way back on foot, in tears. And thanks for sharing the queso!! I hope you like it 🙂

    1. I’m so glad you got a laugh!! Thank you so much for sharing your near-meltdown story – I can so picture that scenario. I think every Mom probably encounters a situation similar to ours at some point. Your friend is an angel! Also, I am saddened to hear about your JCrew dress. It’s just awful when you have to say goodbye to a beloved article of clothing. I cannot wait to try your queso, I am 99.9% sure I’m going to love it, and most likely be making it again and again. Have a wonderful weekend, friend!

  2. This is too funny! That queso dip looks insane and I’ve got to make it soon. Love that brunch top so much (and also LOVE brunch!) lol! 😉 Don’t even get me started on nasty ticks. We live in tick central (New Hampshire) and I have 2 dogs that are magnets for them. Every time they go outside to do business, I search them as soon as they come back inside and I’ll find a teeny-tiny one crawling on their heads. Then for the rest of the day, it feels like tiny ticks are crawling all over my head and it freaks me out. Gross! Anywho, happy Cinco de Mayo!! 🙂

    1. Aah Karrie I don’t know if I could live where you live based on that alone!! Haha I just hate ticks so much!! And YES once you see one near you I think the body just convinces you that you’ve got them all over!! I also love brunch. I hope you get to have a good one this weekend! 😉 Cheers!

  3. That tank is ADORABLE! But ticks? UGH! When I first got my dog (from a rescue, so who knows where she was before that) she had seven ticks. That was the first time I’d ever seen one in real life and I sincerely hope I never see one again. I totally felt them crawling all over me for days afterward. What a lovely person to help you with your stroller! I’m always blown away by how good people can be :). Have an awesome weekend, Katherine!

    1. Uuugh so gross, right!? We were just talking to our neighbour who had a similar experience with their rescue dog. Just nasty little things hey!! I agree, it’s wonderful when you get surprised by a stranger’s generosity. Hope your weekend is going well!! Cheers!
