Easy dinner? Lunch? I’ve got you covered! And the kids can even help!

Burgers are a THING around here. All kinds of burgers. We love hamburgers, black bean burgers, quinoa burgers and these CRISPY fish burgers! There’s something about a delicious morsel inside a soft bun. They’re fun to make, easy to hold, and so tasty!

I’m always trying to get more fish into our diets, and one easy way to do it is with these versatile English-style fillets from High Liner Canada! We’ve used them in a number of different recipes, or just as a quick and easy meal with a side dish of sweet potato fries. The kids love the taste and I love them for their quality and ingredients!

So, I found yet another way to serve up these fillets! Crispy fish burgers with oven roasted potatoes. Yum!

How do you make a crispy fish burger?

You only need a few simple ingredients to make a whole meal out of these crispy fish burgers! If you’re serving these burgers with oven roasted potatoes (which I highly recommend), you’ll want to get the potatoes started first as they take a little longer than the fillets to cook.

Other than the obvious – fish fillets, potatoes, buns – you’ll probably want a few fixings for these burgers. Our favorites are:

  • tomatoes
  • pickles
  • lettuce
  • cheese

To cook the potatoes, slice them into 8 wedges; slice each potato once lengthwise, then slice both halves lengthwise again, then each piece lengthwise again until you have 8 wedges in total!

Place the potatoes on a baking sheet, add some oil and seasonings and bake for 15 minutes at 400 F. I use olive oil and a mix of:

  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • salt and pepper

Remove them from the oven, flip them over, and turn the oven up to 450 F. Move the potatoes to one end of the baking sheet, then add the fish fillets to the other end. Bake the fish as per the box directions, for 25 minutes, turning halfway.

While the potatoes and fish are cooking, prepare the lemon-garlic aioli.

How do you make the lemon-garlic aioli?

This aioli is a must for these crispy fish burgers!  It’s super simple to throw together. Mix together:

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill

Once the fish and potatoes are finished cooking, spread aioli on each half of a burger. Top with lettuce, tomato and cheese, followed by 1 or 2 fish fillets, then a pickle on top. Serve immediately with the roasted potatoes on the side!

The lemon-garlic aioli is also perfect for dipping!

What else can you serve with these crispy fish burgers?

The roasted potatoes are delish, but these burgers also go so well with so many other sides. Try these burgers with a few of my other favorites:

These burgers are the easiest weeknight meal or lunch to make for you and your family, and if your kids are picky eaters like mine, I bet they’ll have no trouble with these tasty sandwiches!

You and the kids will love these crispy fish burgers, served up with oven-roasted potato wedges and a tasty lemon-garlic aioli for dipping!

Ingredients

Scale

Burgers

  • 6 Family Favourites English-Style Fillets
  • 4 brioche-style burger buns
  • 4 butter lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 pickle slices

Lemon-Garlic Aioli

  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp dried dill
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Oven-Roasted Potato Wedges

  • 4 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and set a large baking tray aside. Slice the potatoes lengthwise, then again, until you have 12 wedges that are roughly the same size. Place the potatoes in a large bowl.
  2. In a small dish, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika and ground pepper together. Drizzle the olive oil mixture all over the potatoes, stirring to coat. Place the potatoes on the baking sheet and place in the oven for 15 minutes.
  3. After 15 minutes, remove the potatoes and give them a stir. Turn the oven up to 450 F and make space for the fish fillets on the baking tray. Place the fish on the baking tray next to the potatoes, and place the tray back into the oven. Bake for 25 minutes, removing the tray halfway through the baking time to flip the fish and stir the potatoes one more time. Remove and let the fish and potatoes cool for 5 minutes.
  4. While the fish and potatoes are cooking, prepare the lemon-garlic aioli by mixing all of the ingredients together in a small bowl.
  5. To assemble the crispy fish burgers, spread each half of a burger bun with the lemon-garlic aioli. Place a lettuce leave on top of one half, followed by a slice of tomato, and slice of cheese. Place 1-2 baked fish fillets on top of the cheese, followed by a pickle slice and the other burger bun half. Serve immediately, with the oven-roasted potato wedges and lemon-garlic aioli for dipping.

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge, unassembled. Reheat the fish fillets in the microwave or oven before assembling the burgers!
