If you love strawberry, you’ll love this 3 ingredient strawberry smoothie! It’s a super thick strawberry smoothie that’s naturally sweetened and is full of Vitamin C!
Guys, apparently we’re “campers”. I mean, I use that term somewhat loosely because it’s not like we’re exactly roughing it. We have a toilet, shower, and beds at night. BUT we do hang out in the great outdoors and cook all of our meals outside on the fire! I never expected to enjoy it quite as much as we have. I love being away from it all, out in the trees and smelling the fresh air all day.
The sleeping is a bit of a challenge still – you read the part about Oscar falling out of his bunk on to Hattie? BUT we’re working through it. And it’s worth it!
Today we’re actually leaving to go camping on public land, and we don’t have any sort of reservation or specific idea of where we’re going to end up. This also means no plug-in for the trailer. This’ll be a first for us as a family! There will likely be no reception out there either, which I think I’m actually looking forward to.
Etienne is in charge of actually finding a spot to camp. I have lots of pasta salad made, so my part is done. 😉
Wish us luck?
Anyway, today’s 3 ingredient recipe is this super simple strawberry smoothie!
What goes into a 3 ingredient strawberry smoothie?
Typically I throw things like frozen banana, spinach, protein powder, chia seeds or yogurt into my smoothie, but this super simple strawberry smoothie is GREAT with just 3 ingredients. All I used for this is:
- frozen strawberries
- vanilla almond milk
- maple syrup
You could swap out the almond milk for coconut milk or even a dairy milk. I love vanilla almond milk but full-fat coconut milk is SUCH a treat too. It makes the smoothie sooo thick and creamy!
The maple syrup could be swapped for honey, or even left out altogether. You could also leave it out and add in frozen banana instead as a natural sweetener.
Do you have to use frozen strawberries, or can you use fresh?
You should definitely use frozen strawberries to get the cold, creamy smoothie texture. If you want to use fresh strawberries, make sure you add at least a cup of ice as well to thicken things up. And consider adding frozen banana!
Blend your ingredients up in a high-powdered blender (I LOVE my Vitamix) and give it a taste. Add more maple syrup if you want things a bit sweeter.
Pour it into a glass (use a tall glass) and serve!
While I was testing this for the blog, I made it a few times with a couple of different variations. The kiddos didn’t mind all the testing, I can tell you that! And I didn’t mind giving it to them. It’s basically like giving them a delicious serving of fruit, but it tastes like a treat to them.
Can you make this a keto or low-carb strawberry smoothie?
Strawberries are naturally low-carb, so if you want to keep this smoothie keto, I would use coconut milk (full-fat is best) and substitute the maple syrup for a tablespoon of your favorite sweetener. Or leave it out, I actually don’t even think this smoothie really needs extra sweetener!
PS – Canadian readers!
I’ve partnered with Genuine Health on Instagram to give away a tub of their vanilla protein powder. I can tell you from experience, that protein powder is AWESOME in this smoothie too!
Wish us luck this weekend. Hopefully I’ll have some fun stories for you on Monday!

I love almond milk too, we always have some on hand! Thanks Kelly! I bet you’ll love this one!!

Camping sounds like so much fun! Can’t wait to hear how it went!
Loving this smoothie! You’re so right about the kids thinking it’s a treat, yet we know it’s good for them.
It’s been so good so far, Kelly! We’re really loving it, especially the escaping from technology for a little while. Thank you my friend!
My girls will love this smoothie!! I’m loving how healthy it is! We camped a lot when I was growing up; I loved it!! We haven’t ventured there recently because my girls freak out when they see bugs, or bees, or spiders….I imagine all their blood curling screams wouldn’t be so enjoyable for the others camping. 🙄. Maybe we just need to find a quiet place in the middle of nowhere for just us! Hope you had a fabulous weekend and I look forward to hearing about your adventures!
Haha, so funny! I am a little like your girls in that I really don’t care for bugs or spiders either. Thank goodness for a trailer 🙂 It’s far off the ground haha!
Your beautiful strawberry smoothie is such a perfect summer treat… and I love that maple syrup. Yum! 😋
Thank you Heidi – that maple syrup adds just the right amount of sweetness!!
