Description

You’ll love these saucy hoisin beef bowls garnished with fresh vegetables and crushed nuts! This Asian ground beef recipe is full of flavor and takes less than 30 minutes to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 shallot, finely diced (sub 1/4 yellow onion)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef (I use lean)

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1” fresh shredded ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Optional Garnishes

  • sesame seeds
  • crushed peanuts
  • green onions
  • cilantro
  • shredded carrots
  • radish

Instructions

  1.  In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the minced shallot and sauté for about 5 minutes, before adding the garlic and cooking for an additional minute. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 10 minutes.
  2. While the beef is cooking, prepare the sauce. (You will probably want to start your rice around this time too). Whisk together the hoisin and oyster sauce along with the rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, shredded ginger and red pepper flakes.
  3. Once the beef is browned, add the sauce and stir fry for another minute until thoroughly combined. Serve immediately over rice, or other base. Top with sesame seeds, peanuts, green onions, etc.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container, for 2-3 days or kept in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating either in the microwave or in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes.
